| THE HOBBIT - 1955. George Allen & Unwin. 7th imp. 1955. Stated '7th Impression' which must make this the third (?) printing of the second edition. Nice that it's from the same year as 'The Return of the King'! Dust wrapper not price clipped (9s 6d). Spine and top edge of dust-wrapper is showing some browning, and spine of dustwrapper has one or two tiny chips and flakiness - but no tears, repairs, or any of that nonsense. (Can you tell yet that I'm not an expert in grading books??). Book itself is nice and square and in excellent shape for a 50 year old!. No writing, marks or damage to the inside of the book. Cover is clean apart from some slight discolouration along the spine in line with the dustwrapper. The photos were taken on a white background, and not lit particularly well, and my camera really didn't cope well with the close-up shot at the end, but it should give you an idea. The book hasn't been out or on show for at least the last 15 or 20 years, and is in the same condition as when I acquired it all those years ago... |
