George Allen & Unwin / Folio Society. 1st deluxe edition As you can see, the inside of this book appears to be the George Allen & Unwin Deluxe Edition (1976), and is described as such within. It contains the JRRT illustrations throughout as opposed to the Eric Fraser ones. Only the mention of the Folio Society on the frontispiece distinguishes it from a regular GA&U version inside I think. However the binding is clearly the Folio Society design - but strangely not the maroon coloured boards that appeared on the 1979 '1st' Folio edition. Condition is as shown - well handled, but not a total disgrace! So best judge by the photos which show all significant knocks - scuffing to the spine, and worn corners on the slipcase. No marks, tears or anything else inside the book :) |
